Natural Dyeing 101

This morning session is a part of The Workshop Experience @ Taconic Ridge Farm. Learn the ancient art of natural dyeing from start to finish. We will use locally grown and foraged materials as well as ethically sourced dye material from Oaxaca, MX to dye a linen table runner. A 2 hr workshop for all ages and skill levels, kids 6+ are encouraged to join for free. Learn the full process and take home a beautiful new work of art for your home.

We will cover all aspects of the natural dyeing process, including:

* How to setup your space

* Washing (scouring) your fabrics

* The correct mordant for different fabric types - silk, wool, cotton, and hemp

* How to use the WOF (Weight of Fiber) percentage system

* PH shifters and color modifiers

* Where to source your dye material, local and from ethical sources

You will leave this class with:

* PDF of step by step instructions

* confidence to naturally dye on your own

* 1 naturally dyed linen table runner, we will use a bundle dye method.
