Forage for Color

  • Conscious Color Dye Lab Hudson, NY (map)

Walk the land, collect and learn about local Hudson Valley plant material to use as a pigment. After our hike and some light snacks we will naturally dye with our foraged plants. Bring home knowledge of the plants around you and naturally dye a silk or cotton scarf, or your own garment that you bring to the class.

In this class we will go on a 45 minute hike around our property, collecting plant material from the forests, pond, fields and wetlands to bring back to the studio and make color. We will make small samples and recipes from all of the material we collect as well as dye your choice of a 24” x 24” silk and cotton scarf. All materials provided.

The hike can be adjusted depending upon the participants and weather. Private bookings available on site or at your land for groups of 3 or more. Please reach out to Hanouxdesign@gmail.com with all inquiries.
